75What is Mind Mapping?
Mind mapping is a tool that has been used for thousands of years (well at least the concept behind it has, only recently was it 'invented' and thus patented). Mind mapping can help you achieve goals, change things about your life, or bring awareness and insight into problem areas in your life that you may have been unaware of.
Mind mapping involves getting your thoughts out on paper and then taking a step back to evaluate. A mind map may consist of a problem you're trying to solve, or a goal you want to achieve, or something you want to be better at. There are many things mind maps are used for, however, most people are not aware how to properly use a mind map are use it to its full potential.
Use Mind Mapping to Get What You Want out of Life
You're probably asking yourself how mind mapping can help you get what you want out of life. Well, it's a three part process. The first involves awareness or identifying what it is you want to change or what goal you want to achieve. This will be the center of your mind map.
Once you have your goal in mind, now you're going to put it on paper by way of mind mapping. So you're bringing about an awareness-bringing your goal into the realm of conscious.
You now can see your goal on paper in a way that it almost takes on a form, though it is thought and word on paper. I'll give you an example. Let's say your goal was to become more confident.
Confidence would be the goal so it would be at the center of your mind map. Now you would branch off of confidence with your own personal thoughts on what it means to be confident. You might have branches like, sociable, outgoing, happy, adventurous- these are my examples but it's important to use your own thoughts and perceptions of what that would look like to you.
So now that you have a mind map of what confidence means, you would want to create another mind map of what your life would look like if you were confident.
You would put 'my life as a confident person' or something to that effect in the middle then start branching off. You may have branches like: I would be more successful, I would be financially secure, I would get that job promotion, I would be lucky with the opposite sex etc. Once again, these are generic ideas, you need to put your own thoughts onto paper.

Beyond the Secret Law of Attraction
Most of you are probably familiar with the term 'The Law of Attraction'. Maybe you have heard of the book and movie 'The Secret' which discusses this fundamental and universal law. If not, the premise of the Law of Attraction is that thoughts become things, or you will move toward and become like that which you think about.
This universal law, 'The Law of Attraction', is as fundamental as any other universal law. Now, in the book and movie 'The Secret' (which by the way is very inspirational and I recommend viewing the movie as well as reading the book)- they really only scratch the surface of this law and fail to go into detail about other fundamental and universal laws. That being said, we will stick with the Law of Attraction for purpose of this hub.
So, applying the Law of Attraction- if you are worried about bills or obsess on financial problems, you will continuously have these issues arise in your life-because that is what you are thinking about and that is how the Law of Attraction works-thoughts become things.
Lets assume you began to think of being wealthy and could imagine yourself living in a mansion or driving the car of your dreams- this will then eventually become your reality.
Sounds crazy but this works as this is a fundamental law. Now, it doesn't happen overnight and there is more to it than that which was not covered in the book or movie 'The Secret' and this is where mind mapping comes in to play.
The Law of Attraction Explained
The Power of Mind Mapping
Now that you have a basic understanding of mind mapping and a basic understanding of The Law of Attraction, you are ready to discover the final step in the mind mapping process;you are ready to unleash the power of mind mapping.
You should now have awareness of what it is you want to achieve or change in your life. You have created a vision of what that change would look like using a mind map. Now you have to apply action.
Yes, this requires work, you don't just think about being rich or more confident and then just get rich or become more confident-though it really is almost that easy.
You will now take your vision of what it would like like to be confident (sticking with the example above) and pull out statements. So, if being more confident would to you mean: being financially successful or sociable and outgoing- you will now take this statements and write them on a seperate paper or little card (that' what I use) and turn them into 'I' statements. Your statements would then look like this:
- I am financially successful
- I am sociable and outgoing
Remember, these are my examples, it is important to use your own.
Now you are going to read these statements to yourself three times a day for thirty days. Once in the morning in silence, once in the afternoon in silence, and then once before going to sleep but this time should be read out loud.
You are reading these statements in the present as that is how the universe works. There is no past or future, there is only now. We as humans have invented the concept of past and present.
It takes thirty days to develop a new habit so you will do this for thirty days. Over the course of those days, you should if not already begin to form an emotional attachment surrounding these statements-meaning, you should begin to feel desire and passion- you should begin to get motivated to change and your desire should become so strong that you will create your reality-what you want to become-because thoughts become things.
That is all there is to it. I hope I have explained this well enough. I wil tell you, when I first started this practice, my desire was to be more patient with my children and my spouse. I used to yell and lose my patience easily. Since I have applied this law to my life using the mind mapping technique, I took on a new awareness of my present emotional state and am proud to say that I am more patient and my life has become amazingly peaceful.
This was important to me so that is what I chose to work on first. I continue to and will for the rest of my life apply this powerful tool to continue getting what I want out of all areas of my life. This literally will work for everything if you are but willing to put in the time and effort. Give it a try, you have nothing to lose but your suspicions.
