My List of 10 Rude Things People Do
Is it just me or do people seem to be ruder lately? Tailgating drivers, grumpy co-workers, up-tight employers…and the list goes on. Can’t we all just get along?
I am happy to say I reside in Reno Nevada, and no I don’t have any inside sports betting tips nor do I know anyone in the mafia. Reno has changed; it’s not the hustle and bustle gaming town it once used to be. It is now the town where at any given time 7 out of 10 drivers (on a weekend after 6 p.m.) on the road have had at least one drink before getting behind the wheel. Seriously, drive or walk the streets of Reno at your own risk.
One thing that has been bugging me about my beloved town as of lately are the amount of rude people. I don’t know if there is something in the water or if people are suffering side effects of nuclear fallout from all the testing done in the desert, but I encounter rude people on a daily basis everywhere I turn.
Here is a list of the 10 rude things people do (in Reno Nevada at least):
1. Tailgating Drivers! They are the worst! People act like by tailgating they are going to get somewhere faster. It’s gotten so bad I carry a high-powered rear facing spotlight to blast anyone in the eyes that won’t get off my butt.
2. Line-Holder-Uppers! Whether in the grocery store, Wal-Mart, or at any event, people think the walkways and isles are for socializing. GET OUT OF THE WAY! That’s why we have facebook people, do your socializing online so the rest of us can get where were going.
3. Movie Interrupters! If you don’t want to watch the freaking movie then why did you go to the theater? Seriously, shut up or leave and get a red box rental, or I am going to start bringing duct tape to the theater…you know what I’m talking about.
4. Loud Music Players! It’s nice to know people appreciate the fine arts-music. But just because you like playing your music so loud that you will almost definitely suffer hearing loss, or so loud that your car rattles and vibrates my mirrors, don’t think you are impressing others. You’re not. In fact, you’re running the risk of waking up to flat tires, a stolen stereo and of course you will not hear me when I break into your car because you will have gone deaf from playing you’re music to loud. Just kidding, I am a law abiding citizen, just needed to vent.
5. People with an opinion! If you have an opinion, keep it to yourself. I don’t want to hear it unless it resonates with my own ideals in which case I will be more than glad to hear you out as it will boost my ego and make me feel better about myself thus pacifying my need to be rude as I am to insecure to want to hear thoughts that are not intellectually stimulating or go beyond the scope of my comprehension thus questioning the foundation of my beliefs and sanity. Just kidding…but seriously, keep your opinion to yourself.
6. Driving while texting! I for one value my life and that of others. I have seen the gruesome pics floating around the internet of lethal accidents caused by texting while driving. Using a cell phone period while driving is rude and dangerous. Text Later…Hello!?!
7. Pedestrian Haters! Every morning I have to cross a busy street to get from the employee parking lot to the office. There are no cross walks anywhere near the office location. You would think people would slow down and let me cross. Though, not only do they slow down, they seem to speed up! I get a couple of steps out into the street with no car in sight and now, suddenly the car from hell appears out of nowhere bent on gunning me down. Not cool! Just because you are too lazy to walk, a little courtesy would be nice…Slow Down! Then again, maybe you’re on your cell phone texting and didn’t see me…either way, you suck, be nice.
8. Fake Bums! I realize there are a lot of unfortunate people, particularly with today’s economy. A lot of people have lost their jobs or cannot seem to find one. For those who fall into either category, please do not take offense to this.
I went to get some gas the other day and noticed an elder lady with a sign asking for help. I pulled over and gave her all the cash in my wallet and change in my ashtray. It was no more than ten dollars altogether.
I then proceeded to the gas station feeling good about my contribution when I noticed the lady pulling something out of her handbag. She pulled out a pack of cigarettes and a star bucks coffee! I wanted my money back! If she could afford to smoke and indulge in glutinous pleasures such as a caramel macchiato, she was in no need for money. Or should I say, she is a real bum. Not the kind that pan handles for money, but the kind that sucks the life out of humanity and our economy-people that use the system not because they are in need but because they are lazy or have no moral fiber. RUDE!
9. Belligerent People! People who smoke or cuss in public places such as in front of restaurants, parks or other venues where children and families are present are rude! This is so common in Reno and probably other places as well. It seems many people have lost self-respect as well as respect for others; particularly children and families.
10. Fast-Food Employees! I took my two children through a fast-food drive thru as I am a busy guy and they love the little apple wedges and chocolate milk that accompany their chicken nugget meal (which by the way they never eat). Suddenly, my wife notices the girl in the window just took a chicken nugget out of a bag and ate it! Seriously, how crazy is that?
If that wasn’t bad enough, I went in to another fast food joint to use the restroom and the lady at the counter was picking her nose! I stopped, in shock; she looked up at me and did not even remove her finger for at least three seconds which seemed like forever and then gave me a rude look and asked if she could help me…um…no thanks. Rude!
